Succulent Care Guide

Want to be a succ-cessful plant parent? Here are some simple tips to look after your succulents.

Tip 1: Lots of sunlight

Succulents thrive in abundant sunlight. Ensure they're positioned in a location where they receive a minimum of 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. For a refreshing change, occasionally take your succulents outdoors to bask in the sun before returning them indoors.

Tip 2: Water lightly

Succulents have an innate ability to conserve water within their structures, making them exceptionally drought-resistant. During the warmer months, when their growth is at its peak, water them slightly more. However, in winter, minimise the watering. Always water the soil directly, avoiding the leaves to ensure optimal health.

If your succulents are in a ceramic pot without a drainage hole:

Water lightly (30-50ml) once every 2 weeks in warmer months and every 3-4 weeks in colder months.

Only water when the pot feels light - which is an indication that the soil has mostly dried out.

If your succulents are in a ceramic pot with a drainage hole:

Thoroughly water the succulents each time until water comes out of the drainage hole.

Let the soil dry out completely between each watering. Only water when the plant pot feels light.

If your succulents are in a clay pot with a drainage hole:

Water the succulents thoroughly each time until water comes out of the drainage hole.

Soil dries out more quickly in a clay pot than in a ceramic pot, so you'll need to water your plants more frequently, usually once every week during warmer months and once every 2-3 weeks during colder months.

Tip 3: Air ventilation

Proper airflow is essential for the well-being of your succulents and can deter pests. Position your succulents near a window to allow gentle breezes to circulate, bolstering their health and vigour.

Tip 4: Neglect and enjoy

Embrace the low-maintenance nature of succulents. Their growth is unhurried, and often, less is more when it comes to their care. Overhandling, excessive watering, frequent relocation, or constant replanting can be detrimental. Instead, choose an ideal spot for them in your home or office, let them be, and relish their serene presence.
